COMMERCIAL: Primary Power

Hydrogen is now available as the primary power source for grid tied commercial applications. Plug Power's GenSysTM combined heat and power grid tied systems provide clean, continuous power for on-site commercial applications - and they are proven. Over 400 units have been installed around the world, helping organizations adapt to the dramatic changes taking place in the power generation industry. Powerful and scalable, each unit can produce up to 120 kWh a day.

UNINTERRUPTED POWER TO CRITICAL LOADS

The GenSysTM converts readily available fuels, such as natural gas and propane, into electric and thermal power. During a grid outage, the system seamlessly transfers to standby mode to provide uninterrupted power to critical loads. When service is restored, the system resumes its normal grid-parallel mode of operation. GenSysTM systems are quiet, odorless, run irregardless of the weather, operate day and night, have a small footprint, are environmentally safe, and do not require costly battery backup systems.

A 5kW system can produce up to 120 kWh a day and will only produce as much electricity as you need unless you choose to over produce and sell the excess electricity to your local utility. Many utilities such as SDG&E in San Diego will buy your excess production, especially when supplies of electricity are tight. Natural gas is one of the main fuels that utilities use to produce electricity. If the price of natural gas goes up, the price you will receive for your excess electric production will also increase. You save more by producing your own electricity and hot water and you make more selling the excess electricity back to your utility.

THE GENSYS TM SYSTEM HAS MANY ADVANTAGES:

  • Quiet
  • Odorless
  • Continuous power regardless of weather
  • Continuous power day or night
  • Produces domestic hot water
  • No expensive battery back up systems needed
  • Small footprint
  • Environmentally safe
  • Can become an electric power producer

AVAILABLE LATE 2007

Currently undergoing modifications, Plug Power's GenSysTM next generation system is projected to be available in late 2007. It will be more efficient, smaller, and lighter than the current version, and will continue to be powered by natural gas. It will offer the benefits of quiet, low-emission operation. Any business in California should examine the GenSysTM system and see if it makes sense for them in these uncertain electric times.

If you wish to be put on our list to be contacted when this next generation system becomes available, please fill out the form on our Contact Us Page. To view Plug Power's GenSysTM.PDF specification file. The next generation GenSysTM will be lighter, smaller and more efficient.
